Delomne is terrible. But this game was lost by kicking it out of bounds and on their second possesion. Way to conservative play calling. If they get it inside the 10 they are afraid to do anything but run it up the middle 3 times and punt

He's not the only one I feel bad for, but he's the one I feel worst for. No one knows if he'll even be around for a playoff run next year, if there is one.

Regarding the game, that was one of the best coached games I've seen in a long, long time, obviously just from Arizona's side. On defense they played a hybrid look that confused the shit out of Jake because he didn't know who would drop or where, and having so many near the line meant that they could respond to the run. Too bad we got behind so quickly since DeAngelo was having success on cut-backs. Arizona isn't a big defense, but we couldn't push them off the line, so the runs were coming mostly from when they got out of position.

And as for offense, they exploited that Cover 3 we play better than anyone I've seen. The first long gain from Fitzgerald was busted coverage by one of the linebackers and a later one was Marshall's screw-up, but the rest weren't blown coverage, they were just excellent route design. In our Cover 3 scheme, routes across the field from one zone to another are passed off. So while Lucas would start off on Fitzgerald as he came up the left side of the field from split end, Arizona knew he would be handed off to Harris or Godfrey in the middle zone if he crossed deep enough. Clearly neither of those guys can cover Fitzgerald, but you need great pass protection to give a route that long time to develop. Honestly it's something teams should have been doing against us for years, although it would have been nice to see Trgo adjust and use some straight man when they kept burning us with the same god damn shit. And in the run game they obviously exploited that soft middle we kept talking about.

This just sucks. Bad.

as pissed as i am about the game, i am so much more mad about what happened when i was there. i almost got thrown out of the game for standing up. you couldnt pay me to watch another game with the fucking snobs in the club level

 

This is the second time you've confused me with someone else. You never at any point questioned me about a Cover 3 defense. The first time you mentioned a Cover 3 defense to me was a month and a half ago when you claimed that you had called me out on it. You hadn't. Do a search of your posts if you don't want to take my word for it. You're thinking of someone else, and moreover, you're adding a tiny bit of humor tonight by exposing just how ignorant you are about defenses.

Yes. We were in zone coverage, not man, and the drag route is supposed to be covered by one of the linebackers. Beason and Davis both moved towards the outside and left Fitzgerald wide ass open.

Learn what a Cover 3 defense actually is before you rant anymore about calling someone out on it.
