No, just....no. The BCS will not let a school from a non-BCS conference play for the championship.

The BCS doesn't pick who plays in the title game, you retard. Don't post until you have something intelligent to say, which means we might hear from you in 2019.

I'll dumb it down for you.

A team from a non-BCS conference will not be able to make it to #1 or #2.

And you are a complete fucking moron for thinking TCU would have made it in the championship game undefeated.

They unquestionably will if they play a tough enough schedule and go undefeated. Non-BCS teams are already making it into the top ten with shitty schedules. Give them a legitimate schedule where they beat top teams, and yes, they will unquestionably be chosen over any one loss BCS school. Utah missed out because they didn't play any BCS top competition and their road schedule was laughable.

Here's who Utah played away from home this season:

    3-9 Michigan
    3-9 Utah State
    8-5 Air Force
    4-8 Wyoming
    4-8 New Mexico
    2-10 San Diego State

You're telling me a team with that road schedule deserved to be considered for the national title game? This is why people think you're a moron, and why you should have your thoughts checked by someone who isn't an idiot before you decide to post them in a public forum.

TCU lost to Utah and Oklahoma. They dominated Utah (416 to 275 in total yards), but screwed up their chances to score and allowed a touchdown in the final minuutes of the fourt quarter. Meanwhile the Oklahoma game was not particularly close, but TCU did beat them in 2005 and had they done so this season in addition to beating Utah, it clearly would have been enough for them to get a national title berth over any of the one loss teams.

Really, learn who you are talking to. If you feel the need to argue with someone, pick a person at least close to your intellectual level. Don't pick fights with someone far, far beyond your abilities.

Being that out of conference schedules are often decided a few years into the future, AND BCS teams are not exactly lining up to take the risk of playing a Utah or Boise State, it makes it very difficult/impossible for a mid major to have all the stars actually align.

    Taking that road schedule,

Utah couldn't have seen Michigan stinking it up this year a few years in advance when they scheduled that game. If anything they wouldn't thought that Michigan would be a top 25 team.

Utah State is a team they play every year.

All the other are conference games.

I wonder if Utah would have gotten the nod if MIchigan could have gone 8 and 4 this year?

I hope in about ten years we can look back and laugh at how stupid college football used to be when voters instead of players decided who would play for a national championship

Bullshit. That is a myth perpetuated by people who want to make excuses for non-BCS schools. TCU hasn't had any problems scheduling Oklahoma, Texas, etc. In recent years Fresno State has played Wisconsin, LSU, etc. The one time in its history when Boise State was willing to play an elite team, they went to Georgia and got their ass kicked. That was in 2005 and they've been too scared to play any quality BCS opponents since then.

BCS schools might play them now, but 4 years prior to the crescendo of sucess for teams teams like that it would be really tough to get a game. If New Mexico goes to Alabama or Michigan and invites them to play there, do you think Alabama or Michigan would be excited to schedule that game? NM could easily be where TCU and Utah are in five years with the right coach and some great recruiting. BCS schools usually tend to schedule mid majors that are regional. Getting a BCS power to come to a team like thats house....not very likely, there is little to gain. The blueprint for how a mid-major could play in a national championship would have to have one incredibly brilliant, and incredibly lucky engineer.

Underdogs are often what makes sports great and compelling, and underdogs in the form of mid-major schools are not given much opportunity to win championships in college football. If there were a playoff, they would probably get slaughtered 8 out of 10 times, but that wouldn't matter, because those 2 out of 10 times they actually won would be more interesting and entertaining for fans.
