That's fine if that's what he does, but say, those guys don't leave? Say they stick around and want to get that "great" UNC Chapel Hill education, which is why the Carolina fans say they all come there anyway. What happens then? You know, and I know, that it's a bunch of bull shit. He's going to call those guys in to his office and tell them their scholly isn't renewed. And yes, this does happen in most every other program, which by no means makes it right. BUT, other programs do NOT do it to this extent. I challenge anyone to find a program anywhere in America in NCAA BCS that is as many players over the scholarship limit as UNC Chapel Hill is right now and is still recruiting. You won't find any I don't think. It's just ridiculous that the fans, administration and players sit by and allow this guy to have free roam through that school.

And before you go and say I'm "hatin'" on Butch Davis, well you are right. I can't stand the guy. I had the opportunity to see him in action when he was at Miami. And first class, he's not.

Might want to send a message to the University of Florida and tell them to not accept Donte Moss' commitment then. Otherwise, maybe 3 of those are Tar Heel commits. Once Urban rolls Donte into Gainesville following an appearance, and possible win, in the national championship, you can say goodbye.

 

You might find some teams that have 2 to 3 players over the limit, but not 16 players over the limit.

rock meet hard place. He got owned vs. his rival 2 years in a row, and lost his first bowl game. He gets paid alot of money and has alot of pressure on him. It's not good, but he's doing what he has to do. The kids are the victims, but if they got a scholarship to UNC, they'll get one elsewhere - maybe somewhere we'll they'll play more, have more fun and win more games.

 

I like this class, they are an extremely talented bunch. You and I have no ideea what is going on inside the program. There may be multiple guys that have already told BD that they are dropping football, transferring out, or graduating early. He might not be as far over as you think, and until I know otherwise I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

You should not pretend to know what is going on in the world of college football recruiting. Donte Moss was one of the first people to commit to UNC out of this class. He isn't leaving for Florida. Besides Williams, the others all committed to UNC over six months ago. I would suspect they are all solid on Carolina.

You may now continue your attempted assault on UNC football.

 

Do you truly believe that shit? 16 kids leaving? Just because? Have you EVER in the history of college football heard of roughly 15% of the team just deciding to leave? That says even more about the program than him running them off. That ain't gonna happen. Just admit he's running kids off. The previous argument about him having to produce makes more sense to me, but it's flat wrong. UNC should understand, that the previous coaches created a mess if that were the case. However, it holds more weight than your lame reasoning that they are all leaving. Once again, it's ridiculous to even try to make an excuse for it. And I would condemn any team for doing this thing, not just UNC. So don't think I'm just attempting to "assault" UNC football.


As for Moss, just keep watching. He has scheduled an official visit to Florida, just after the National Championship game. Just don't be surprised when it happens. And turn back the clock a little, AJ Davis committed fairly early too. I hope, for the sake of the state of NC, that he stays in state. I wish UNC, WF, Duke, NCSU, ECU, App St could keep all these studs from NC in state and quit going to places such as Florida, Clemson, etc. And I'm not an ABC'er so to speak. I would truly enjoy seeing UNC vs. NCSU in the ACC Championship each year, however unlikely that would ever be. But it would be pretty awesome to watch. And until the schools in NC start keeping these guys in state, it ain't gonna happen.

 

Moss Picks Carolina

After allowing his experience last weekend at Maryland’s Junior Day to sink in, Donte Moss decided to verbally commit to North Carolina on Monday.

“Today I talked to the [UNC] coaches about how I’m pretty sure I want to come to Carolina,” Moss said, “because [Maryland] was really the only other school that I had in mind.”
Moss, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound defensive end from Jacksonville (N.C.) Northside, selected UNC over scholarship offers from such other programs as Alabama, Clemson, Florida, East Carolina, Georgia, NC State, and Virginia Tech.

“Mainly, really there were no other schools that offered as much as Carolina,” Moss said. “… I didn’t have the foundation at other schools that I have at Carolina. I have two friends that are having good success that are already in the program – Kendric Burney and Deunta Williams. And then I have a lot of family that lives in North Carolina.”

John Blake, who is handling Moss’ recruitment for UNC, was a major factor in Moss’ decision.

“He really explained to me about what he could do and what he could offer me,” Moss said. “Plus, the guys he’s coached and trained, it’s awesome. If he could do that with those people, there’s no telling what he could do with me.

“He seemed just as concerned with life as he does with football. A lot of times when I talked to him, he doesn’t even talk about football – believe it or not. He talks about what I could do off the field.”

Although he says he’ll “probably” still camp at Florida this summer, Moss insists his pledge is solid.

“I’m pretty firm, because [my decision is] not only about football,” Moss said.

Additionally, Moss had planned to attend NC State’s upcoming Junior Day . He has yet to discuss with his mother whether or not he will cancel that visit.

Moss grew up following the Wolfpack and was considered a strong NC State lean early in his recruitment.

“I like State, but it wasn’t too much that I would put it over any other school,” Moss said.





With graduates, medical redshirts, non qualifiers, and a couple leaving for the draft early via the new NFL bargaining agreement and guys changing their mind the day of or shortly before signing day - it's hard to fairly say the ethics behind what's going on with Davis and the recruiting. Until then, the debate is dumb - we will see how the cards fall February 4th.

 

I know he's said he's solid, but I'm just saying don't be disappointed if he changes to Florida.

And I don't agree that it's a dumb argument unless you are a UNC fan and want it covered up. I do, however, admit that I don't know the exact number of players that are leaving by their own accord, which I've stated above. I am just saying that there aren't 16+ players that are just going to give up and leave on their own. I know that, you know that, everybody knows that. If I were to assume, I'd say UNC has at most 5-6 guys that will leave on their own, including guys leaving early for the NFL. On that assumption, there are 10 that have their playing days shortened or altered.

Now, give me your opinion, if NC State were to do this, what would you say? I'd still say it's wrong and shouldn't be done. Hell, this even happens in baseball. And in my opinion, more needs to be done to stop it, I'm just not smart enough or have the time to figure out and present a better way!

 

I wouldn't be dissapointed at all. The best OT in the nation considered UNC for a while before choosing UF. UNC as a program has come along way for top athletes to consider UNC.

I don't care what program it is. It gives competetion to the program and give competetion to the kids, and teaches them how real life and how business really is.
