this is why college football is stupid. Utah has the best record in the country and goes undefeated. Plays about as strong of a schedule as they could and beats Alabama worse than Florida did and does not get even a shot at the national title. They might not be better than Oklahoma or Florida but they at least deserve a shot. This is just proof no matter what you do, if you aren't in a major conference you have absolutely zero percent chance of winning a title. Congratulations Utah, you won your consolation game and finished 4th or 3rd in the country. I guess if some Cinderella team or 4 seed makes the Final Four they should just give them a trophy, not let them play in the actual final four and just give them a trophy for winning the region and let them keep the nets and not let them go any farther because that's about the equivalent. Totally stupid.

I don't think Utah gets within 2 TD's of either Florida or Oklahoma.

Of course you don't. Utah could beat either of those teams. I don't think they would, but they are no slouches.

And to Elric, we'll never know what Utah could have done against those teams, might have been fun to see.

I predict Collin's next post will be that we are all stupid blah blah blah, BCS has no flaws blah blah blah, and we should never disagree with him on anything he supports.

Come on now, think about how happy those Utah kids are to be able to end their season with a win!

Not remotely true, but you've never let facts stop you before. TCU played a tough enough schedule that, had they gone undefeated, they would be playing for the national championship. Utah's schedule doesn't come close to TCU's. Utah is following the Boise State model of playing middle of the pack BCS teams, while TCU and Fresno State are willing to play the best teams. And if you decide to start ignoring strength of schedule, then those best teams no longer have a reason to play anyone but cupcakes, then hope they make it through their conference schedule undefeated.

And by the way, Utah beat Alabama in part because of the match-up. Alabama is built to be physical and their defense couldn't cope with a spread passing offense.
