    all good. It's certainly different.






    So caught them in Cary last night, great venue, came late so saw it from the back. Pretty cool to see them standing against a tree drinking a beer, though. Good smells from the audience too. The new songs work out very well live, but hadn't heard most of them live.

    Sound was good in front of stage, but stuck of to the side, sound not so good. . . . Just my opinion

    and yes the oversold that venue, + all the folks that hopped the fence

    Concord's Avett Brothers are on the cusp of a breakout year, with the planned 2009 release of its Rick Rubin-produced major-label debut album and a stint opening for the Dave Matthews Band.

    But they won't enter 2009 without first putting on what's become an annual New Year's Eve event: a Dec. 31 concert at Belk Theater. In fact, this year, they added a Dec. 30 show. Both sold out (as did gigs set for this Saturday, Sunday and Monday in Asheville). That's a testament to the trio's rabid fan base here at home.

    Really happy they're getting national exposure, sure. Is this the part where it's not cool to like things, or just not to like things that Fro doesn't like?
