Could be, but its the hypocrisy of some UNC fans that I'm pointing out.

but, he qualified. Everyone knows EZU is where all the academic rejects go if they can't play football for an ACC school.

Yeah, I misspoke. He made it to the playoffs with the Browns. And as for his record, it's Cleveland! Until Butch got there they hadn't made the playoffs since 1994, and they haven't made it back to the playoffs since he left. Davis certainly didn't do the best job of drafting while he was in charge, which played a role in his demise, but a lot of it had to do with the front office there in Cleveland as well. They're a loser organization and the only success they've had came under his watch. Now you can argue that the overall record still means that he isn't a great coach, but the reality is that he did get the Cleveland Browns to the playoffs, which is a more impressive achievement than any other coach in the ACC can brag about except for Bobby Bowden.

It's not hypocrisy. It's just a documented fact that Carolina has higher academic standards and rejects some athletes the coaches would prefer to admit.

    Franchise:
You're not helping. Some athletes would like to go to Carolina but can't get in. A lot simply never wanted to go there in the first place.

Then you should have no problem naming the "rejects" currently on our roster. Or at least giving a number of partial qualifiers?

And tell me the difference between a partial qualifier and how schools like UNC bring in questionable kids.
If we bring in a partial...they have to sit out a year (lose a year of eligibility) and get the grades...they have to pay for themselves that year.
UNC just sends them to a school even easier than highschool (fully paid for, BTW) have their hands held during every class, test, etc..take the tests as many times as needed to get the scores.

All the people playing for ECU qualified according to NCAA standards as well. What's your point? I can see why you're pissed, though...I mean UNC consistently underperforms considering all the benefits they have...(in football...seem to do well in the other sports)

I agree on some points. And I'm not saying he's a "bad" X's and O's type...just saying that its simply my opinion that he's not "the best in the ACC"....its definitely debatable. Just from watching the games I have the last two years (granted...didnt really follow him at Miami...and its kind of hard to judge his stint there b/c of the talent they had)...that's how I feel.

As recruiter...I would put him #1 in ACC
As X's O's gameday coach...somewhere in the top 5, maybe? I mean you could make a case for Jagodzinski, Beamer, O'Brien, Davis, Johnson, Grobe.

no way am I pissed. UNC finished 8-4 in according to USA today the best overall conference in college football. 8-4 was realistic going to the year, and that's what UNC got. Mack Brown was no where near the success Davis has had in his first 2 years.

you simply took a typical jab at UNC, and I took one back at EZU. Both qualified jabs in my opinion.

Most people know Butch Davis isn't a stellar on the field coach, that's why he brought in solid assistant coaches to help. It's going to take some time for them to get acclimated and settled in with the correct personnel. IE; the starting running back started this spring on the other side of the ball.

    Oh yeah...back to the topic.

    Our current DC Greg Hudson
Wouldnt mind seeing ex-Southern Miss coach Jeff Bower.

I don't know about Bower, but Hudson needs to be our first choice. If we don't, someone else will.

It's cool (although my first jab was in response to a jab at ECU... :) )

He does seem to be able to put together on-field talent and a good staff, though.

if UNC lands anymore of the top talent, they'll still finish in the top 10 in the nation in recruiting. 2 great years, 1 decent year for Davis.

I will be pissed if UNC doesn't get into a BCS bowl in 3 years. I'm not a typical "what have you done for me lately" UNC football fan, it's going to take some time, I'm willing to be patient (even take monster beat downs by a rival) If all that means BCS games and 10 win seasons, I'll be happy.
