No longer the Panthers' best corner. He wears out too much as the season goes on. I didn't think I'd say this before the year started, but I'd be okay if he becomes a cap casualty next season.

Still like him, and he's got a little play left in him. Just not sure its enough to warrant his paycheck.

Lucas is still needed, but yeah, he's been having a rough time the last few games. In fact, no one in the secondary is playing well. Gamble hasn't made an impact since signing his contract, Marshall & Godfrey have struggled all season, and The Business has been invisible. With our lack of a pass rush, we're going to need those guys to step it up.

it won't show up officially in the injury report, but Lucas did take a head shot in Green Bay....he did come back to play, but he may not be 100 percent with his noggin. Not making excuses, but he may be trying to play through something he shouldn't be trying to play through.

    interesting stuff.

Pass D's been struggling a while, though.

no argument there. is it personnel or scheming (in your opinion)? Harder for me to see it when I am looking through the lens--I am only following the play, not trying to read the coverages, etc.

I have a thought that it is scheme, over player right now.

Also, is it against the rules to blitz (or at least bring a little more heat) on 3rd and long?

Lucas is getting suckered in on double moves, that's one thing. I don't know why he's being outmuscled here more lately, but I wasn't seeing it against, say, Atlanta so that could be the injury to a point.

The back seven overall just looks disorganized. Well, Diggs and the back four. The other two are OK, but Diggs has been out of position and it looks like everybody's trying to cover for each other. Not unlike how our LBs are overpursuing trying to cover for our DTs.

Solarte, can you confirm what someone on here said about Hoover fucking up his fingers a few weeks ago? I found it odd that we would throw to him if that's the case.

I had dinner tonight with a buddy of mine who is on this Board, and he told me that Lucas received far too much of the blame in the Tampa game. My friend was at the game, and he told me that Lucas had to take up the slack from several blown assignments by Godfrey. Even though it looks like Lucas was getting lit up in coverage, the fault lies with Godfrey.

Of course, me being the honest, true fan that I am...I let my friend know in the friendliest way possible that I felt he was full of shit. I'm curious as to whether anyone else saw what my friend saw....to me it looked like Lucas got burned time after time.

Godfrey sure isn't the blame for Lucas' pissy tackling this year..
