K-Rod to the Mets. 3 years and 37 mil. Could be up to 50 if he meets some clauses

Here's what's amazing about that deal. The Mets outbid themselves. It appears according to reports that Krod was not getting offers anywhere close to what the Mets agreed to. I heard on WFAN tonight that the Mets could have signed him for less. Regardless, the Mets made themselves a much better team with KRod.

that's why the Dodgers haven't offered more for Manny - doesn't seem anyone wants to put up that kind of money and long term contract for him yet - so why bid against yourself?

at this point it looks like CC or Manny. With Lowe gone, and sounds like Penny has 1 foot out of the door, Dodgers will be in serious need of pitching.

Dodgers do need a lot but that division is so bad that it might not take much to win it.

Oh yeah, I could live with a rotation of Peavy, Zambrano, Dempster, Harden and Lilly.

The starting rotation is the least of the Cubs worries so why are they so hell bent on Peavy? Looks like they need some bats more than they need more SP.

50? For him to get that much the only clause he can hope to meet is Santa...

Looks like the Phillies are done with Pat Burrell :(
    From ESPN Insider:
Pat Burrell may prefer to remain with the Phillies, but his agent has told The Courier News Journal in New Jersey that the veteran left fielder almost certainly will be playing elsewhere in 2009.

The agent, Ed Hayes, said the Phillies haven't shown much interest in re-signing Burrell.

"I'm hopeful but I'm also a realist, and I'd be surprised," Hayes told the newspaper. "I have not heard anything that would lead me to believe the club wants to have him back."

General manager Ruben Amaro Jr. admitted to the newspaper that the Phillies haven't had substantive discussions with Burrell's representatives, and the club appears to be moving on by talking with free-agent outfielder Raul Ibanez.
