Hate to agree with ya, but you're right. Not a bad idea taking a shot at the kid though. Maybe they get lucky and he wants to play football. Maybe UNC's baseball team was part of the allure to him commiting... but HUGE maybes, but can't hurt.

Could be the case also. UNC does a very good baseball program and has finished second like 3 years in a row at the college world series. It wont be to long before coach Fox get his national title for UNC baseball.

Tate is being advised by Scott Boras, who prefers his clients to attend college since they usually end up getting more money that way, but it's no sure thing. Rick Porcello was a Boras client who also committed to Carolina but wound up signing a contract when Detroit offered him huge money. It'll just depend on where Tate goes, to whom, and how much ends up being offered.

get a year of education, play on the football team and play on a baseball team that's had recent success and signed 7 of the top 112 prospects this off season. I'd say, he may try a year or 2 - won't know until the draft though.

Can't try a year or two. With baseball you go in the draft outta high school or you have to wait 3 years. He won't be eligible to go to baseball again until after his Junior year. That's why it makes it a tough decision on the kid.

Will he be a football scholly or baseball? I think that he would have to be a football scholly but can't remember.

Baseball doesn't generally award full scholarships, just partials, but last year they had so many people sign with major league teams instead of coming to college that they should have more than enough to offer him a full ride if they want to.

Probably football, its hard to get a full ride in baseball due to limited avaibility of sholly's. A lot of college coaches looking for education money or some other type of grant to help players pay for college. In my four years I only knew of one kid getting a full ride with a baseball scholly.

If he goes to college he will turn into the Russell Wilson type situation. He can play baseball but if football practice has something mandatory in practice or meeting, he has to miss baseball games or practice because his football scholly overrides any baseball related activity.
