Yeah, Delhomme is better than Grossman. They're similar players, but Rex is even more careless about where he throws it. Plus Jake doesn't generally make bad reads when he takes the time to survey a defense. He'll sometimes throw it right at a guy he inexplicably didn't see, or throw it up for grabs when the pocket is breaking down, but he generally doesn't get confused by the coverage when he has time to look things over. Meanwhile Grossman seems to be fooled a lot.
Swann was before my time, so I can't really speak to that comparison. What I can say is that as much as I dislike the guy personally, there isn't a receiver I admire more in the NFL for what they do on the field. Steve Smith wasn't some undiscovered savant coming out of Utah. Frankly his receiving skills just weren't good when he first came into the league, but he's put amazing effort into making himself a top notch receiver. He's not just dominant because of his will, but also because he's worked on his routes and releases and all the little things that make the difference at the wide receiver position. It's too bad that his volatile personality keeps him from being a role model because I can't think of a better example of hard work at that position since Jerry Rice.

Both Rosenfels and Anderson have come from behind victories to their credit. They don't have as many as Jake because they haven't had nearly as many starts.
The very vast majority of baseball fans believe in "clutch hitting," that some guys are just money in important situations while other ones are chokers. The vast majority of baseball fans also happen to be wrong, as numerous studies have shown. Derek Jeter has such a reputation for that kind of thing that he's called Captain Clutch, but over the course of his career his batting average with 2 outs and runners in scoring position is .318, virtually indistinct from his overall career batting average of .316. People believe in those things because they remember memorable successes. Those events stick in their minds more than a 3rd inning double or a 2nd quarter pass. Fans (like players) are superstitious and tend to believe in nonsense.

    Clay:
2004 was when Moose posted crazy numbers because Jake just kept throwing deep balls up for grabs that Muhammad would grab by boxing out defenders like a power forward.

Smitty had to run not only vertically, he had to adjust back to the ball as well because it wasn't accurate. The wind certainly could have been the cause of that, as I don't know what the weather conditions were like at that particular moment in the fourth quarter, but the fact of the matter is that it was a jump ball and it was not completed because of the quality of the pass. It was completed strictly because of the quality of the catch. It certainly was not a good pass.

Do you think he should get HoF consideration if he continues to produce at his current level?

I did note that there was a decently strong wind in their faces on both of those long passes to smitty.

it means he is a winner - no one said hes the best qb ever but when people are being critical they must also be fair and acknowlege that there are some things the guy does well-the implication that hes a total loser is retarded-part of critism and analysis is being fair or unbiased in what is said, otherwise its merely an opinion

i happen to like the guy because he may not be the most talented guy but he tries and he gives a shit about whether we win or lose and theres alot of guys with alot more talent that dont and dont get it done

ya'll remember that year that carson palmer had tj hoozyourmama and ocho cinco and threw 20 picks that year? and had a worse statistical season than delhomme had in 2005 when all he had was moose and nick goings?

good thing that palmer has those 2 wr's. they should probably just cut him.

    cut him now.

ya'll remember how delhomme and carson palmer have the same int % throughout their career.

and the same passing average per pass?

unfortunately, jake has a 84 career rating vs palmer's 88. man, i'd sure take those 4 more points with two pro bowl wr's and NO GODDAMN SUPERBOWL APPEARANCES.

Moose didn't play here in 2005 and a superbowl appearance 5 years ago does nothing to help this team going forward.

Going forward? It's the middle of the season. Let's talk about "going forward" and "moving on" when we are not in the middle of a playoff hunt.

I know you were talking about wydd's comparison post about Palmer, but fuck. We are 9-3, just won one of our most exciting games this team has participated in, on the road, and we will host a MNF game against our division rival next week. And the fans on this board want to get in a dick wagging contest over whether or not Jake is any good.

I really doubt first ballot. With his off field problems they'll make him wait a couple of years and he should.
