He is starting games in the NFL, yes. He is only doing so because of Steve Smith, however. Delhomme is just a guy. There are a hundred quarterbacks who could do just as well with the same receivers.

hes not the fantasy geeks friend but he is a winner-it cant logicly be argued that hes just some guy that anyone else could do as good as. yes smitty is a playmaker but 99.9% of just another guy wont try that throw and alot of others he makes plays on.....it frustrates the hell out of stat freak wannabe football experts why the pretty boy 300 yard plus guy looks so good and walks away without the most important stat-a W

Delhomme is average at best and everyone in the country besides homers know that.

His pre-bye passer rating would be good enough for 9th in the league.

fair enough, though, you can hang on the whole "homers" bit but "average" is better than "shouldn't be starting".

Yes, as evidenced by last year and every other year. Career backups like Sage Rosenfels, Derek Anderson, Damond Huard and others proved that they can produce at a level similar to Jake, as numerous backups do every season. You, trying to be clever, are arguing against the idea that anyone can be as good as Jake, but that's not what I said. A shell-shocked David Carr and a 44 year old Vinny Testaverde weren't as good as Delhomme had been, but that's not proof that Jake is somehow special, it's proof that those guys weren't among the hundred.

    magnus:
Put Delhomme on a team that doesn't have Steve Smith and his QB rating would be in the toilet. He's never been an accurate passer, but his QB rating is generally respectable because Steve Smith makes huge plays.
