I'm probably the only one that knows the answer to that.

    Why?

Valid Point. Don't agree with it, but can't really argue against it either.

Wow - a full scale Collin endorsement. I'm honored.

    I agree.

For some reason people have a hard time accepting that we are mortal beings, and hope for eternal life is what keeps them going. We don't want to think we are insignificant, so we created God to give our lives meaning.

Take God out of the equation and you still, essentially have the question, albeit in a slightly different form:

    When did time start?

Which then begs the next question, since you on this train of thought:

Well, what came before time started?

A definite beginning and end of time and material is incomprehensible, just as infinite time and material is incomprehensible.

With regards to God creating man and man creating God, in a way, both have happened. Humanity was created by God, at least in most religious frameworks. However, humanity is frequently trying to remake God in their image. And we create gods all the time, or at least objects of our devotion and worship. Of course, now you get into that murky semantic hole, "what/who/how is God?"

This all comes back to faith. I believe in God not because I can prove it but out of faith. The only proof I have are the times I have felt him move in heart. Obviously that can be proof only for me.

If you want to know if God is real then seek him out. If you find him you will know he is real. If you are really seeking God he will reveal himself to you.

I can see why you might think that. You would need to feel it for yourself to know if it were real or just the product of emotion and peer pressure. The best advice I could give anyone is to seek out God. If you find him then you will know he is real. If you do not find him then maybe that makes you feel better about your position as an agnostic.

We will spend our lives debating these issues hoping for a better place. God gave us this life. Enjoy it to the fullest. My wife said she has never had a patient die that didn't say they wanted one more day! We spend to much time looking for something better.

That is a potential explanation for the anthropomorphization of "God," but there are plenty of reasons to speculate about the existence of a higher being that have nothing to do with human frailties. Moreover, that categorization is typical of people who need to adopt a feeling of superiority and do so by pretending that they're "too smart" to be religious. In the end, those human feelings are all irrelevant as to whether or not a "God" actually exists.
