    To me that's a cop out. much the same way people say "God works in mysterious ways" when they can't answer other questions.

    Ok, if you didn't like that answer, how's this one?

    It's an invalid question. You can't ask "who created God?" because it's based on the premise that someone (or something) did in fact, create God. That's a faulty premise. Either a) you believe in God - in which case you most likely agree with the Biblical answer I gave before, or b) you don't believe in God, and therefore nothing created Him because He doesn't exist. Your question assumes people believe both things at the same time - that's probably why you havent gotten a satisfactory answer.
