Had my latest sleep test on Wednesday so I can get a new machine.

I stopped breathing on average 106 times an hour
My oxygen level is supposed to be around 99 is 75

Between the late 70's and early 80's and now I am running out of functioning brain cells.

I guess I have severe sleep apnea and need to use it instead of being Reggie White pt deux :shocked3:

I get my new one on Monday. My old one is 10 years old. Doctors never told me to get a new machine or head gear. I wanted a new head gear and new doctor was shocked I was till on the older unit. The gauge for air flow was 11 ml (not sure the units) of air. No wonder I am always tired. Side effects of apnea are pretty scary between higher risk of heart disease, stroke...

if you don't watch out, with those numbers you're going to need o2 in there too. I don't imagine that's fun.

All I know is I want nothing to do with this shit. I've heard once you go on apnea machines you're pretty much on for life.

From what I've read if you snore there is a good chance you have it. It gets worse as you get old in that the tissue in the back of your throat gets less rigid and sags restricting air flow. Toss in most people gain weight as they get old and that contributes. no way in hell I want to get the surgery (laser the back of your throat to pull it back up) as the recovery has to be long and painful not to mention only ~50% effective. My 11 reading was from 10 years ago. The sleep technician said I did real well at 10. I don't want to have to sleep with an oxygen mask but I have gotten used to the mask. The new one I am getting can either use nose cushions or over the nose. The nose one worked great but a choice will be nice.

I have just about as bad a case as you...101 episodes per hour, oxygen around 70-75, longest episode was 70 seconds. I started on CPAP, but went to BiPAP to relieve the aerophagia I was experiencing (air ingestion in the gut). My BiPAP is set for 14 on inhale and 10 on exhale. It took very little to get used to it...it seems like the machine breathes for you. Good luck with the new one.

I was hoping with my weight loss my sleep apnea would subside. It didn't. Not much, anyway.
