The Cubs have showed an interest in Manny, but in order to get him they would have to deal Soriano or Aramis Ramirez. I personally do not like this idea as a Cubs fan, if Manny started slacking in Wrigley they would have to take him out of the game. The bleacher faithful would probably give manny a good beer bath if he wasn't hustling. I tell you what though, I'd rather deal Soriano than Aramis....

I saw where the Yanks are going after Sabathia and Burnett.

That gives you Sabathia, Burnett(if they get both), Mussina, Pavano, Pettitte. Kennedy, Hughes, Ponson doing spot starts, long relief, or filling the void if one of the 5 starters go down. Joba in the 8th and Mariano to close it. That would be a killer pitching staff which minus injuries, would make them major contenders for the World Series.

Joba Chamberlain is going to be a starting pitcher. It would be completely idiotic to take one of the best pitchers in the game and force them to be a set-up man. Completely fucking idiotic.

That's a reasonable move by LA, but Boras didn't pull all those strings and get Manny out of Boston just to settle for the same amount of years they just gave up. If it's not at least a three year offer, teams shouldn't even waste their time.

agree. I assume that was the initial and the Dodgers will counter with a 3-4 year to close the deal? He's not signing a 2 year deal.

That was strictly a P.R. move as McCourt has no intention of bringing Manny back for the $80-$100 mil it will take.
