Hope not as well! Can't really see that happening with all Victorino brings to the ball club. BUT ..... you never know!

I would think that the Phillies would address the Burrell thing before they would make a move anywhere else in the outfield. With Burrell out of there they free up $14.5 million to use on someone else. Burrell will get some interest from other clubs, but I don't believe he will be a Phillie in 09! We shall see!

It looks like he's going to Oakland. Never would have thought they would make such a deal whatever it is. No way they can afford to re-sign him.

Ok after listening to Buster Olney (Who along with Gammons I trust) it's basically a 1 year rental. The A's will not try to resign after this his last year of current contract. They'll take the 2 1st round picks if they contend next year or they'll trade him mid 09 season if they don't and probably get a shit load more than they gave up

The A's think that with Holliday they can contend with the Angels in the AL West. Bold move for sure but who can say ? A's have a way of contending even after they trade away players like they did this past year.

They gave up a ton. Carlos Gonzalez is their best prospect, Huston Street is still very talented, and Greg Smith is a decent young pitcher. Stupid deal for a guy who hasn't proved he's great away from Coors Field.

He's better than that but he has some things to prove away from Coors. The pressure is on him playing in a big park where the ball does not carry and not a lot of limelight. I like Holliday but this to me does not seem to be a good spot for him. A's gave up a lot to rent him for a year at the most. My guess is that he gets dealt to a contender before the trading deadline next season.

I haven't seen it confirmed that Street would be involved in the trade.. yet. While they are giving up the ship for him I'll hold back judgment until I see what they get next July because no way they contend. They'll trade him then and get probably a lot more in return
