Watching the TV last night and on came this Pastor of a large denomination that had Dr. in front of his name and said several things I just don't understand the same way as this Dr.

The first thing he said is that we will be raptured out of here before the tribulation and Christians will not have to go thru the 7 years when the Anti-Christ appears. Well, I don't believe that from what I read.

May main point is that he said the tree in the Garden of Eden was an apple tree. The scripture reads: Gen: 2-17 "but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."

What kind of tree do you think that God was speaking? I don't believe it was an apple tree!

Pre-, mid-, or post- trib rapture is one of the most argued questions in Biblical Christianity. It's not exactly a crystal clear, obvious answer.

The story reads like a parable. I tend to think that's what it is, and that being the case, it doesn't matter what kind of tree it was.

What BV said. The Bible never says what kind of fruit it was.....or even if it was an actual fruit at all.

I've heard explainations from it being an apple to the tree actually bearing 13 different types of fruit to "fruit" being immoral sex (with Cain being the son of the serpent, or evil, and Abel being the son of Adam, or good).

It was the tree of knowledge. When you eat the fruit you know/have knowledge that you're doomed, gonna die, kick the bucket. Not that the fruit will kill you, but that you'll learn, gain knowledge of your impending demise. That's the way I see it.
    is kinda misleading.

Damned if I know where 'apple' came from. It could've been a mango tree for all I know.

It was self-salvation, law. The tree of life is Christ.

It could have been an apple tree, or a pomegranate, or a banana. It could have been an symbol.

Those are the most common theories I'm familiar with too. I wouldn't say it is the most argued, but it is definitely up there.

There were two trees in the garden mentioned. The tree of life and in Gen. 2:17 the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.

The way I read this is...I know that an apple tree has no knowledge of good and evil, so this would have to be a two legged tree (person) which was a serpent namely Satan.

Gen. 3:6 The woman saw the tree (Satan) was good for food, that it was "pleasant" to the eyes (very handsome) and a tree desirable to make one wise (Satan was an arch-angel and very intelligent and convincing). She took of its fruit and ate.

Gen. 3:13 The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."

Gen. 4 Adam "finally knew" Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain. Within a few minutes Abel was born. (Note: Question is how long did it take for Adam to "finally knew Eve"-how long after her conception?)

Gen. 5: 1-7 gives the genealogy of Adam. Verse 3 it says: And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot (a "son" in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth.)

Question...why isn't Cain mentioned as Adams father?

If anyone can shed some light on this subject would be appreciated!
