Unless they start getting more fan support and putting people in the seats, the bowl committee will do everything they can to pick a different team. 48,000 in the stands at home against a ranked team isn't stellar by any means.

says the clemson fan who desperately wants butch davis as the coach.

lemme guess, you must have read philpotts retarded begging on the clemson scout site.

you forgot to mention that bowls are all avoiding unc because it will only ever be a basketball school

Nah, I think Butch is staying put. I'm just telling you bowl committies want teams who will travel well. The Peach Bowl did it last year when they selected Clemson over BC eventhough BC had the better record and beat Clemson.

The fact that Clemson has one of the best followings for travel will always have bowl comittee's rooting for them.

I would love to see the two worst major division teams go to a bowl and play. I suggest the one's at Boise or Shreveport. I would watch that game.
"The Battle for the King of the Losers"...at a loser bowl. Wow...talking about a bowl you could promote....and each team would probably gain some much needed athletic money.

Shoot..you could have a BCS poll to determine the two worst teams. (the only requirement is that neither coach for the teams have been fired)..until after the game.

I think you would be surprised at how well UNC travels to bowls. It could be that it just happens so sparsely lately, but UNC has generally been known to travel well. I don't think we would fill up Boise or anything, but Charlotte, Atlanta, or anywhere in Florida shouldn't be a problem.

The 2001 Peach Bowl was INSANE. I don't really remember the 04 Tire Bowl because we had our tailgate set up at 8 am.

I remember that Tire Bowl because I had to watch everyone tailgate while I was at work. There were a lot of UNC fans. The worst attendence in my recent memory was NC State at the Tangerine a few years ago. No one went.

I've been to two Peach Bowls with UNC and the Tarheels sold out their share of tickets both times in a hurry. Atlanta has the second highest poplulation of UNC alums (Charlotte #1) than any other city in the US.
