For those familiar with it.......If I get my family a Wii for Christmas, is there a bundle that includes a good selection of games for kids to adults and as well as a good assortment of accessories? And maybe more importantly, what accessories are a must? I don't want to be wishing on Christmas morning that I had gotten a this or a that for it.

Starting out, get the basic Wii and the Wii Play package. The included games should cover you for a while. Bowling, boxing and tennis are all a lot of fun. The Wii Play gets you an additonal remote and nunchuck along with another few games. The additonal controllers are a must.

The sports accessories, golf club, tennis raquet head, etc, are just cosmetic and don't really add to the game play experience.

You may want to invest in a charging station for the remotes. They can go through some batteries. Make sure you have plenty of AA batteries on hand for the first few days if you don't have the charger.

What Vito said. Especially the charger. The lego games (star wars, indiana jones, etc.) are pretty cool too. Go to blockbuster and rent some for Christmas morning too.

save your money and buy something else. that thing wont be touched after about a month. Once the novelty of moving/swinging/throwing etc wears off, that thing wont get touched.

Ignore Dave. Listen to Vito. The boxing and tennis are hysterical fun.

This is a good post but I'd recommend getting AA rechargeables, that way you can use them in your Wii, your 360, and anything else that uses AAs. Also note that Wii Play only comes with a remote, if you want a full second controller you'll still have to buy another nunchuck.

As far as games, Zelda/Metroid Prime 3/Super Mario Galaxy are all great traditional videogames and Wii Play is mild fun (but comes with a remote as stated.) Mario Kart is a blast for most people and has a ton of tracks.

we had a crap load of game cube games that can play on the wii, otherwise, it's a bit overrated.
