    Stick with the Charlotte Knights.
Classy name. We could even stick the "wonderboy" lightning bolt on the sleeves.

I explained why. Because if you want MLB in Charlotte, you better hope Charlotte doesn't get a reputation for bailing on their Pro teams. We'll go from being the 'nice city on the other side of the fence' to the graveyard where teams go to die.

Nobody bailed on them becuase nobody ever gave as shit or wanted the Bobcats in the first place. I'm not arguing for MLB I'm just pointing out that nobody will worry about the Bobcats leaving. It is the Bobcat's inability to create a product or environment that has kept them from winning anybody over.

They are named the f'n Bobcats for God's sake.

And you never will if the Bobcats can't tread water in the heart of 'basketball country.'

I don't think we've ever lost a big league team save the Hornets. We lost the Hornets because we were unwilling to underwrite Shinn's losses with public funds like New Orleans did. Which was absolutely the right decision. We GAVE the Bobcats a 270 million dollar arena along with all cash flows and they STILL can't make it. The reason the NBA has done poorly here is because Charlotte NBA teams have been the victims of some very piss poor management, NOT the fans. Charlotte at one time had the best fan base in the NBA until Shinn and his stupidity destroyed it.

I wanted them (actually I wanted a new team with the Hornets logo/history.)

But I can't defend the horrible way Bob Johnson has come into the community and acted like he deserved everything when clearly the referendum was voted against. One thing I never got, though, was that Bob Johnson never held a gun to Charlotte's head and demanded an arena.

The arena was agreed to before we had a team, and the head of that decision making falls on the Mayor who went against the public referendum. If people are SO pissed at Bob Johnson and the Bobcats, why the fuck did they keep electing McCrory? And how is he running for Governor?

People sure have a strange way of holding others accountable.

I'm voting McCrory because he did the right thing in getting us Light Rail and Downtown Arena. Seems like all the people pissed off at spending tax dollars for an arena would have voted out the Mayor who was in charge of all that.

    Odd.

I'm well aware of the history but it has a good place in this thread. I'm not blaming the people of Charlotte (I grew up here and was 12 when the Hornets came) for turning their backs on the NBA.

It is what it is, unfortunately.

That said, outside perception may not view the city of Charlotte as victims. The perspective around the country should the Bobcats move or fold (lol the NBA obviously isn't going to let a franchise fold) likely won't take into consideration the very local mistakes of the owners (various personal misdeeds by the first, stupid and arrogant marketing misdeeds by the second.)
