    What is the latest on Charlotte finally getting a football team?

    When I was attending UNCC back in the 80's we had a fairly good basketball team and they seem to have fallen into a black hole.

    I told someone the other day where I graduated from and they ask where or what is UNCC. People know more about Davidson than about Charlotte.

    ETSU is planning on bringing back football. Maybe someone in the community that has a vision and not afraid to get out of their comfort zone can get off their cans and check out how ETSU is progressing.

    UNCC was 0 - 11 last season. Not lookin' too good this year either.

    84, you don't get out of the cave too often do you? If you would go to Charlotte49ers.com you might be up to date.

    Chancellor Dubois recommended a FCS football program (must start at that level) beginning in 2013 back on September 18. The UNC Charlotte board of trustees will vote on his recommendation at the November board meeting.

    Unofficially, the BOT wanted to have 1000 pledges for $1000 PSLs by the November vote. That number was achieved in three days after the announcement. The latest number announced last week was 3300, or $3.3 million pledged without a guaranted team. No money has yet been accepted, no campaign can be done until the trustees vote.

    Also, most people with an affiliation to the school use UNC Charlotte or Charlotte. UNCC is not considered an accepted acronym now.

    Still wonder why UNCC hasn't changed their name to the Univeristy of Charlotte or Charlotte University or something to that effect.

    That's next on the agenda. We need to make football a reality first.

    However, I'm sure that will be even harder than getting football given the politics involved.

    CHP, even though he recommended football basically did it without having to be on the hook for it with the fund raising stipulation. He loves to kiss Raleigh ass so I'm 99.999% certain he'l be against a name change. He says it's for political reasons but I don't buy it. We go along with everything Raleigh says and Charlotte is still nearly dead last in funding while being the
    4th largest university in the system. Can't get to much worse by pissing them off with a name change I guess.

    Wasn't Cincinnait the university of ohio @ cincinnati a long time agao?
