MLB would be supported, but the problem is that there are so many minor league franchises in the area.

I don't think Charlotte could support a MLB team anytime soon. Who would go see an expansion team (Charlotte) play a bad team like the Royals or Reds on a Tuesday night? From what I've read a team has to average around 30k fans a game

30k is average, and even then you're looking at a lot less during the week. Regardless, it wouldn't be an expansion team, it would need to be an existing team that moved.

That is a big problem with bringing MLB to Charlotte. So many minor league teams in NC/SC that they would have to be re-located.

If Charlotte had a team I could invision it being like the Marlins or Rays. Most of the time they suck and no fans attendance. Then after about 5 or 6 years of drafting young talent, they make a late run into the playoffs only to lose all that talent and suck for another 5 years.

Unlike Miami and Tampa Bay, the piedmont area is a hotbed for baseball. People here love the sport.

You're right, nobody would go once the novelty wore off. The NFL is the king os sports and the Panther support is average at best. Baseball wouldn't stand a chance with 80+ home dates.

I think a MLB would do just fine ( at least as good as 1/2 the other smaller market teams out there). You have to remember, this would be in the summer, when there are no other sports around. It'd be great to have an uptown stadium to hit the game, then the bars ( or the bars, then the game). Grab a beer, enjoy the weather.

I for one would buy season tickets to a Charlotte MLB team......I think that a Charlotte team could do pretty well.
