I think that Davis will put up with being #2 for only so long. Wait until the guy wins an ACC championship only to get the cold shoulder by those that frequent the dean dome........basketball schools have a real hard time holding on the football coaches.....it never seems the other way around.

Being second to Carolina basketball is like being almost as nice as Jesus. Second fiddle at UNC still gets multi-million dollar facilities, stadium renovations, and huge salaries. Davis isn't resenting that at all and never will. If he ever left, it would only be because he felt he had a better chance to win elsewhere.

OK... I'm a State fan so here goes...

Butch aint leaving. There's plenty of room for him at UNC. The whole "basketball school" idea is dead. Look at Ohio State, Florida, Texas. They all have great football and basketball. UNC is trying to get to that.

You can have two great programs at one school.

but all those schools are football schools first, i think everyone would agree. Kentucky, Duke, UNC are basketball schools that do not have powerhouse football teams. Like I said.....Basketball schools have a tough time holding on to football coaches.....its really never the other way around.

Of course he'll listen. He'll make it sound like he's interested too. That's how these guys get extensions and raises. Look what Tommy Bowden did to Clemson.

Donovan almost left after his second title. Then he realized what a great position he was in...Florida Basketball is BILLY DONOVANS program now. He basically made that shit. (I know they made a final four in 94 as well) His legacy could be PERMANENT if he sticks around for most of his career. Make a few more FF's, maybe another title, and he could be mentioned among the greats.

Reverse it for UNC, and you may get insight as to why Butch might stay at UNC despite offers elsewhere. You think part of Butch doesn't wish he stuck around in Miami to reap the benefits of his recruiting and development?
