I'm just glad the Sox scored so I could get some sleep. I also can't believe that there is that much of a reaction of the Varitek tag. I thought it was clear that he maintained control of the ball through out the tag, then dropped it when he fell down.

Edit - boy were we all wrong about Lester. He's fucking unreal.

I think most reasonable people understand the call was right. It can't be compared to a catcher being run into at home because a player is trying to knock the ball loose.

It can be compared to a player trying to turn a DP at second who loses the ball while transfering it from his glove to throwing hand. In that case all you need to do is have control of the ball while touching the base.

Varitek had control when he made the tag and that is all that matters.

Huge game last night. DiceK drives me motherfucking crazy, but he is incredible when he has to be. It's like he gets bored unless there are 2-3 guys on or something.

Not being critical but that was an ass whipping tonight. Down 2-1 is no big deal but the Rays look like they think they can win this thing now.

THE T. B. Rays............oh yes. Shades of the '69 Mets. Anyone remember?

They're much better than the '69 Mets IMO.

True, you don't even have to face Sabathia or Carmona this time.
