Things are not static over time. At one point in the past, Duke had solid chances at winning the national championship. Right now it's a lot harder to win at Tennessee than it was a decade ago. Parity in college football has made it tougher for the Vols to pick off the best recruits from surrounding states, and the depth of the SEC is a lot better now than it used to be. Mississippi State and Vanderbilt aren't bye weeks anymore.
Incorrect. An SEC team will be favored if the two have equal records, but last year VT would have made the BCS championship if they had escaped with only one loss. That said, both UNC and Tennessee are a long way off from having to think about those scenarios.

Really it comes down to lifestyle. Davis is older, he has a family, and he's had a cancer scare. There isn't a better situation for him in the country than the University of North Carolina, and I don't expect him to even seriously think about heading anywhere else. Yes, there will be rumors, but that's all.

I will agree that I don't think either team is going to be winning a national championship any time soon.

I am not sure that anyone could ever win an NC at UNC, but I do think that the Heels can have a perennial top 15-20 program and make a run at the top 5 every few years. In fact, that's exactly what happened under Mack. He just ended up getting a call from one of the few college jobs that he couldn’t say no to.

I could see Butch leaving for a really big job - say Penn State or FSU - but not TN. But the rumors are always going to be there.

I'd be more worried about your coach, if I were you.

Syracuse better lock their man down. They're coming and they're coming hard.

Exactly, I would rather have this problem than the alternative.
