It is funny, in the bible in passages that everyone agrees are at least three thousand years old it talks about "every man doing what was right in his own eyes". Some on here think that their philosophy of not needing God or religion to tell them what is right or wrong is something new and that is some how a product of our more enlightened age of science.

It is called progress. Lots of new things compared to 3000 years ago, like the keyboard that allows you guys to post your drivel, based entirely on science.

WHO said that? I'm talking about those who sacrifice and support kids overseas, work at the shelters, cook and feed the hungry. Those who are blind cannot see. Or refuse to.

This may be somewhat off topic, but two people here have mentioned it...why do Christians think they have some sort of monopoly on charity work and good deeds?

No monopoly...but on the whole MOST of the day to day, feeding the poor, etc etc, are Christinan organizations...Habitat...Salvation Army, Rescue missions etc...
I deal with LOTS of them...haven't met any atheists at any of the meetings. Met today with War on Poverty...99% there were from Christian organzations. For the most part I think Americans are willing to open wallets in tragedys, just think on a day to day, not much thought is put into what's going on around us.

Never met any atheists at those kinds of meetings? Probably didn't look too hard. We're usually in the back of the room with our eyes open during the prayers but other than that, we can be pretty hard to spot. Some may be cleverly disguised as Unitarians or Unity members though.
