Could be a little tough this week, a sick Hangartner in, and they are gonna load up to stop the run.
But if we go out and gain 8 and then 7 on our first two running plays, yeah, he better stick with it.

edit: one thing in our favor might be that we played in a warm climate last week, are probably used to the heat a little more than the Bears, and it is supposed to be 90-92 degrees tomorrow (probably hotter down on the field too).

when we have established a running game, that's a good time to run really. We had it, so I dunno.

actually I took a look at the play division since it came up. Before the last series we had run 10 and passed 6 in the second half. We passed 11 times in the last drive for a total of 17 pass 10 run.

We had run 19, passed 24 in the first half.

So the bigger problem wasn't whether we ran in the second half, it was that we didn't put together drives. We had five in the half - the first was a 3rd and 5 we didn't convert (3 and out), the second was a 3rd and 6 we got 4 on (King - I forgot he had a reception), the third we ran 7 running plays in a row (with a false start from Rosario setting up a run of 10 on 3rd/16) to kick a FG and burn 4:50, the fourth was a 3rd and 5 we converted and Hackett fumbled away. 5 was the winning drive.

While I was looking I also noticed that Tomlinson finished the second half with twice the yardage he finished with in the first, where we'd held the ball twice the Chargers had. Unrelated but was interesting.

I really think we can run on the bears this week. Its gonna be an ugly game-mostly a defensive battle. IF Rhys Lloyd can keep Hester out of the return game and we dont allow the Bears d turnovers we should win.

At one point we had run 19 times and passed 20. We then passed 11 straight plays. Most were as we approached half time so the clock may have been an issue.

I'm not real worried about their offense (I think it was more terrible Indy D last week than good Bears O) but the amount of pressure they're gonna bring on D does worry me; we haven't been too good over the years when teams overload us.

And Hester of course, could get them some cheap points.

I didn't think to look, but yeah, now that you mention it, 8 passes 2 runs on that last drive to kick a FG before the half, and we were 2 runs 2 passses before the two minute warning.

So I don't believe the idea of us giving up on the run is accurate. Of course, I'm all for running, but we didn't get pass happy, we had to go win a football game.
