Could 'Watchmen' Get Delayed to 2010?

Movie executives are a bunch of whiny bitches.

 

The industry is barely keeping its head above water with production costs they're going to start fighting for every dime.

 

They'll reach some kind of settlement.

Yep. Fox will ask for sum large sum of money maybe with escalators if the movie earns a certain amount, then get money even if it tanks or a lot of money if it its a hit.

 

Oh, it'll be a hit. Early buzz (if you consider Kevin Smith's early screening buzz) is that it does indeed live up to all the hype.

 

Yeah, but the Watchmen is a cult hit, not a popular hit. Most people have never heard of it and I can't see it doing well at the box office.

 

I dunno man...the trailers shown during the Dark Knight set off a ton of press. This movie's getting tons of exposure. That with positive early reviews will make it huge. Plus, there's millions of folks who've read the graphic novels and they're a shoe-in audience. I'm biased though, because I read it and loved it. It wouldn't be the first can't miss movie that critics love that really isn't that good or doesn't make money. Moreover just because people see a film and it becomes 'huge' doesn't make it good, *Cough* Titanic.

I hope they're ready to see it a dozen times to guarantee its a hit if it gets bad word of mouth.

It's gotta execute a lot of things well. We won't know until it comes out, but given the esoteric nature of the Watchmen in general that doesn't bode well for the movie.

That at least confirmed something I thought about sin city:

I interpret those low numbers as people going to see it and not liking it all that much.

Just to be clear I'm interested in seeing the Watchmen, the plot intrigues me, but I'm just trying to be realistic about its potential for financial/moviegoing success which is probably pretty slim.
