Discussion in 'College Football Forum' started by sds70, Sep 5, 2008.

If Boston College left the ACC, who should the ACC bring in to replace them ? ?

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, how does it look now? The bump the league thought it was going to get in Football has kinda fizzled out (Miami & Florida St. are just average now, ACC looks really bad against SEC compettion, etc.). At some point, do you think Boston College is going to realize 'Damn, we should've stayed in the BIG EAST!!!!' and move back home in another 5-10 years? If that happens, then the ACC has to scramble around for a 12th member. Who should that be ? ?

I'd rather see them boot BC, Florida State, Miami and VT, and invite no one.

Are you cool if they lose their BCS bid too?

Boston College's revenues have incresed by like 60% since they joined the ACC, they aren't going anywhere.

I'd say it's next to impossible that any conference member would leave, but if anyone were to leave it would be Georgia Tech. I'd think East Carolina would be the best choice to replace them, but that's about as likely as Georgia Tech actually leaving.

Their revenues have increased 60% ? ? ? ? Are folks giving more to BC now than before? Are more folks going to BC Football/hoops games now than before? I understand that Boston is a big TV market, but its so far outside of the natural footprint of the league and they are playing more in a pro sports market. I thought them joining the ACC would have a neglibile effect (folks in the area would be more psyched about playing their closer BIG EAST brethren than ACC opponents on the south side of the Eastern seaboard)

They get a shitload more TV revenue money in the ACC than they did in the BE.

It's much more likely for the ACC to go to 16 teams than it is for a current member to leave anytime in the foreseeable future.

It's about TV sds, they don't make their money from ticket sales.

I understand that, but I'm just saying TV market by itself shouldn't be the major deciding factor. It should be evenly split to include location, size of the school, etc.

If TV market should be the lone factor in deciding who joins a conference, then why in the world did the SEC add South Carolina & Arkansas to the conference back in the early 1990s? Hell, they should've added Texas and SMU or Houston instead !!!!!

Texas didn't want to join the SEC and TV money wasn't nearly as big back then anyway.
