it makes no sense, really. Leinart is as talented as anyone, who has done decent things on the big stage before. Maybe the new offense isn't a good fit, where he made a lot of sense in the WCO, but that he's had essentially two bad years just doesn't make sense to me.

He's certainly a candidate to go light it up for someone as a free agent, or he could be shopped, but I see Whisenhunt being there for a few years and this just isn't working out between them.

Whisenhunt wants him to put more effort into being a good QB and less effort into getting laid which is why the 2 QB platoon even started.

The weird thing is that Leinart actually played pretty well in earlier preseason games from what I saw. I read today that he was supposedly inconsistent in training camp, but I just don't see a lot of reason for benching him again. The playboy angle got drastically overblown as well, since young guys with money are going to be chasing tail at night. By all accounts, Leinart was working his ass off in mini-camp and training camp, so effort has not been an issue. Warner still has something left and Leinart could be installed as the starter again next year, but it seems like a real risk of burning that bridge.

I don't expect him to not be going after chicks; That's the life of a QB. Leinart and Whisenhunt seem to have a bad relationship and I seem to remember some stuff coming out of Pittsburgh that Roethlisberger wasn't happy with him their last year together.

I agree that constantly playing games with him starting will risk pissing Leinart off and can't create a lot of goodwill in the rest of the locker room.

Wasn't that the year the Steelers won the SB in spite of Big Ben's best efforts to lose it?

Whisenhunt's job is to win games or he gets to be like Dennis Green: unemployed. If Leinart, who he didn't draft, isn't getting it done for him he's not going down with the good ship SS Leinart. I'm sure the rest of the Cardinals want to win, so good will is going to be generated by picking a QB to start that gives the team the best chance to do that. So far Leinart has been a bust. May not always be that way but for now it is.
