Not so sure Solarte. I went to the Heels/Winthrop game a couple of years ago. I think it was some preseason tournament. I expected it to be filled to to the rafters with Heels fans, but it wasn't. Don't get me wrong, they still vastly outnumbered the other fans, but it wasn't like I expected from past experiences.

No and yes. I don't worry about the fans cause 90% of them didn't even attend the school. It's the actually school thinking it should be the home team in another school's home town that is just silly. Hell, let the Heels wear their home uniforms, I don't give a crap what color the uniform is. BUT, don't just expect to be the official home team. That's ludicrous.

You are absolutely correct. The home team thing is about Chapel Hill's blatant arrogance. The ticket distribution gets down to money and how Chapel Hill is just looking to make a buck and snub Charlotte out of needed revenue.

Could you check on that? My guess would be that they split the revenue, but that more of the tickets would be sold thorugh the UNC ticket office. I could be wrong though.

I was at the Tar Heel-Winthrop game as well, only the lower bowl was full, very sparse in the upper deck. baseline to baseline, first five rows only in the upper deck. Winthrop had at least 3000 people.

I can't imagine how annoying this subject is over on Niner Nation. I'm scared to go read it.

Actually I don't even think this has been discussed over there. HP mentioned it, but it didn'[t really get many responses. It's a dead horse that's been beaten many times. When UNC pulls something like this, it's nothing new.

Because major college basketball programs do it all the time.

Roy needs to move on ,

play Winthrop or Gardner Webb even Pfeiffer

1-U N C could be the home team
    2-controll the tickets
3- play against the same minor college level of talent .
    4- Sell out Charlotte

    Problem Solved

If Chapel Hill is putting the game together, it's their home game, there was no discussion of equal ticket distribution and each school keeping what revenue they get by the sale of those tickets. Charlotte is the "invited" team and Chapel Hill is doing what is known as a "buy game" since it's not being returned as in a home-and-home series. They would pay Charlotte the same amount as they pay OOC teams in the Dean Dome, in the $75,000-$100,000 range.

And I would never doubt what Hoopsradio has to say on the topic. He's MUCH closer to the situation (literally) than you would like to know.

I know just how close he is to the situation, thanks. That doesn't mean that he's in on the financial negotiations though. Which is why I asked Solarte to check on them.

If it is indeed a buy game, then I really don't see what the fuck the gripe is. Are you Niners really trying to say that you feel that the Charlotte market is exclusively yours?

If you are, you might want to go ahead and reconsider that one.
