So, you wanted to play in Charlotte but wanted to be the home team and and control ticket distribution? No thanks. Carry on.

I have to assume that Roy offered to play UNCC in Charlotte. I would also have to assume that was the same deal that most every team - including Davidson - gets for the Heels' Charlotte games.

Yes, Roy called Lutz and made the offer to play downtown. I don't really like the idea of playing downtown when we have a perfectly good arena on campus but I'd be ok with this one like I was ok with the Wake and Maryland games last year. It takes some huevos to want to be the home team in another team's home city AND want to control all the tickets. I'm kinda glad Lutz said no.

Do you think that was the same deal that Davidson got?

According to Kenpom and Espn that was considered an away game for UNC. No clue who controlled the tickets.

If they played in Bobcats Arena there would be at least a 5 to 1 Heels to Niners fans ratio in the building, why is it that outrageous that Carolina wants to control things?

I don't know. But if so, Davdison is a sucker for accepting that kind of deal. I have no problem playing some teams downtown, but don't try to be the home team in the team you are playing home town. That reeks of arrogance. Charlotte has Maryland, Clemson, and possibly Wake to play this season, so missing out on one won't be that bad.

Because UNC Chapel Hill wouldn't be the home team as the game would be in Charlotte. Neither Wake or Maryland demanded the same thing last year. The Niners had a great showing against those two teams last year and would no doubt have a great showing against the Heels. I'm not naive enough to think there would be more Niners than Heels fans, but there would be enough Niners fans to be heard loudly. I imagine Roy knows this.

I'm sure a Chapel Hill/Charlotte game downtown would be considered a Charlotte home game as well But, it wouldn't really matter if the Heels controlled the tickets and got to wear their home uniforms. The home team advantage would just be a mirage.

If you are playing the game in the city where you have a large alumni base, why wouldn't it make sense to try to give as many of them as possible the ability to see you play?

It's not like UNC would have a hard time finding someone who would play in that game.
