really rather have the NBA than either of the above.

Also really rather not be the sort of city or region that loses two franchises in a decade just so we can get another franchise that may or may not stay.

MLB teams don't move often and I think one would be much more strongly embraced than the Bobcats, who were a bad idea to begin with. That said, it was more of a tongue in cheek comment since no one believes that we can trade a team for another. Plus there are so many minor league teams in the Piedmont area that I don't think MLB would be keen on parking a major league team in the middle of them.

Collin is correct, it was a tongue in cheek comment, unfortunately. I agree a MLB team would have been a MUCH better long term goal than a second NBA squad. (I also feel an NHL team is much more enjoyable to watch than a plodding NBA game, but that's not happening either with the Canes up the road in Raleigh). So, alas, we're stuck with what we have.

I'd trade Nascar and the Bobcats for an downtown minor league stadium.

I know it was a comment in jest. I just think the baseball zeal around here has always been unrealistic, I don't know that a MLB team here would be universally lauded.

I've always felt the same as Colin, that MLB has such a strong minor-league presence and history in NC that they would be shooting their minor-leagues in the foot by placing a team in Charlotte.

Of course, I also don't think Charlotte has the population to support 82 dates in MLB.

The best case scenario was what we had for a few years before some politicians decided to play god by forcing a team out (isolating that team's fanbase) and by building the arena anyway (destroying any 'good will' a new team could have gotten.)

The Bobcats unfortunately never had a shot the way they backdoored their way into the city.

I know the guy who heads up the organization that's working to get the Knights uptown; he's mentioned that Bobcats or not, Charlotte isn't at all ready to handle a MLB franchise and won't be for some time.

how much of that is his honest opinion and how much of that is him saying it because if Charlotte gets behind a major league team idea the Knights are toast?
