I actually became a soccer fan during my time at ASU - ASU had a Top twenty soccer team a couple seasons thanks to a couple of Nigerian superstars. ( I even remember the best one's name Thompson Usiyen, he was a goal scoreing machine)

Soccer games drew a big crowd there back when soccer was a nothing sport in the US. The coach of those ASU teams was Hank Steinbrecher who I think headed up the US Soccer Federation for years.

Good point but more people are in tune with how those work. Well maybe the NFL.

This is one of the greatest sporting events and people would rather debate rules for 8 pages instead of commenting on the actual tourney.

The same shit goes on in every forum. Vpkozel is someone who will lie and mislead rather than admit he made a mistake, while I'm a stubborn asshole who will hound points well beyond the point of death. That said, I think we both like soccer and there have been some worthwhile comments. You're right that they've gotten lost in this exchange, but again, that's just the nature of this board.

    Spain 3
    Germany 1

Spain wins this because Lehmann sucks in goal. Germany's only hope is to win on free kicks.

I don't see Germany giving up three goals, especially with Villa out. Lehman had a bad performance, but is generally solid. Corners and free kicks are always key for the Germans, though. I doubt they'll be able to consistently maintain possession in midfield.

I think Fabregas and Guiza can pick up the slack in Villa's absence. I think Spain will have plenty of opportunities to score, it's just a matter if they get on the board first.

Germany is big and physical but I see Spain getting around their backs pretty easily. I have Germany scoring on a free kick or through a counter attack after Spain gets stretched too far going forward.

Word is Ballack will not play, so Villa not playing may not be as important as it once was.

I would happily admit that I was wrong if I had been. Meanwhile you have shown yourself to be the loudmouth prick who admitted he shot his mouth off before knowing what he was talking about, then changing his position in an effort to futiley prove me wrong.

Suck on this bitch. I would expect someone who truly claims to be able to admit he was wrong to do so now. I won't hold my beath that you will do so, however.
