While I am pleased to see the Euro thread going strong at 10 pages, 9.5 of them are just stupid bitching.

Seriously, can you comment on the actual tournament? Start another thread so you can bitch at each other.

Question.....how many of you actually have played the game at a decent level?

what do you consider a decent level?

The soccer i played at striker's and charlotte sportscenter was light years ahead of soccer i played at the high school level.

College level would be a good start. Maybe if you played on a high level club team....

Reason I ask is because I'd hate to watch two people complain and bitch about something in which they'd never really participated at a decent level.

i've reffed, and a good bit of people i played with at charlotte sportscenter played college ball.

didn't really have club teams, or never really heard of them until later on in high school. i don't think i would have had a problem making one, i made all conference in soccer, but honestly i needed to work and make money. soccer wasn't taking me anywhere and mom and dad weren't going to pay for me to go out and party on the weekends.

I coached my daughters youth league team for two years - (ages 6-8). Anybody that has ever tried to get six year old girls to run after the ball when it's play - not just when it goes out of bounds knows how aggravating that can be.

I've never played any soccer at any level so I guess I'll never open a soccer thread ever again.

As for this tourney I have watched just a little. Was home sick the other day and watched some of the end of Turkey-Germany when the live feed wasn't going bonkers. looked like some crappy goal tending on two of the last three goals but what would I know since I've never played soccer...

Oh no, opening a thread is fine. I just can't understand the constant bitch fest that has taken up this entire thread.

I was hoping for more discussion on this tournament.

You are right the goalkeeping was horrendous.

I never played competitively, but I enjoyed watching the game with my Dad in Chicago. We'd always watch Univision telecasts of whomever was on, and Andres Cantor was the play by play guy.

If that's the criteria we should shut down the panthers & politics sections.
