Wallace for Ford would have been beyond stupid.

Haven't read the thread, but I'll start by saying this is the most disappointing Charlotte draft for me personally since the JR Reid draft.

And yes, wtf @ trading Gerald Wallace for that cripple TJ Ford

    Wow.

Wallace is the best player on the team. When he is healthy he has a more complete game than even Richardson. The only two guys on the team I would not touch are Ricahrdson and Wallace. If they want to move Felton or Okafor then fine but when you only have two proven quality players you do not move one, especially for a guy like Ford.

my bobcats friends told me they were trying to send Wallace to Miami for the #2 pick. said GW wants to be here, and didn't want to be traded(but thats not the reason the trade didnt happen)

FWIW I heard an interview with DJ Augistin this morning. he said he worked out with frenchie in LA and said he was a good player. said he can really shoot for a big(tall) guy, can run the floor.....Im still not sold on that pick, dissapointed actually

So the draft could of looked like this...

    9-Brook Lopez
    ESPN
The Nets are doing backflips. They had three guys they really liked in this draft: Kevin Love, Danilo Gallinari and Brook Lopez. They need size and a guy who can score in the low post. I thought Lopez would have been a reach at No. 3, but he's a very solid pick at No. 10. I think this is a very good day for the Nets.
    20-Mario Chalmers
    ESPN
The Timberwolves are selecting Chalmers on behalf of the Miami Heat, according to a league source. Pat Riley wanted a point guard, and he got one. In fact, Chalmers is one of the most NBA-ready guards in the draft. He can shoot, he can defend and he's a clutch player. He's kind of a poor man's O.J. Mayo. Great draft night for Miami.
    38-Chris Douglas-Roberts
    ESPN
The Nets make what could be their best pick of the night. I don't love Chris Douglas-Roberts, but he can score and is one of the best slashers in the draft. For a team that could use more juice in the backcourt, this is a fantastic value.

But NOOOO the draft looks like this

    9-DJ Augustin
    ESPN
A little bit of a surprise. We've been hearing all day that the Bobcats are shopping Raymond Felton. I guess this confirms it. They passed on a need (Brook Lopez) to get Augustin. He's an upgrade over Felton, so it's hard to criticize the Bobcats. Augustin has a chance to be special. The Blazers and Kings wanted him and have to be crushed right now.
    20-Alexis Ajinca
    ESPN
Ajinca is 20 years old and averaged 5 ppg in France. In the history of the NBA draft, has there ever been a player who averaged 5 ppg or less who turned into a decent player? Ajinca was a workout warrior, dominating some of the other big men in the past few weeks. And he has great size and skills. But can he turn them into production on the court? He'll likely stay in France to develop.
    38-Kyle Weaver
    ESPN
Larry Brown always wants a guy who will "play the right way," and that's Weaver. He's very talented, but totally unselfish. He is a great defender who also gets to the basket. If he ever develops a jump shot, he could be a very good pick here.

Wallace is definitely the heart and best player on the team, I would have been crushed if we traded him for #2. Glad that didn't happen.

As far as DJ Augustin being better than Felton, I'll be shocked. Is he super-fast or something? He's tiny. I did like his 6-3 wingspan, that should help, but I just can't see him developing into something in this league. I'd love to be wrong. Wonder what we can get for Felton, not much I'd guess.

Augustin is five times the player that Felton is. Charlotte did well. And you're right. They won't get much for Felton, nor should they.

I hope you're right, the more I read about him the more I like him. But I saw him play in college and wasn't wowed. I hope he's faster than he seemed to me. A small pg that needs to work on his D, those players have routinely failed at the highest level.

Here is a workout by Ajinca that shows some pretty good skill for a big man. He's definitely raw, but I'd say he already better than Hollins. I didn't like this pick when I first heard it, but the more I learn about him, the more I think he was the best guy for us at that spot.
