Because while cable companies are a major pain in the ass, DirectTV is borderline criminal.

 

By criminal, if you mean price, I agree. They give you a good introductory offer, but they make up for it on your remaining contract. They're expensive as hell, especially if you don't watch tv very much. I had to get it(something) because local channels' reception sucks.

 

They send stuff addressed to you about an package, take you order for said package, install, etc and then send you a bill for different package and don't tell you until you call 5 times that you didn't qualify for the package.

It gets worse but I don't have time to describe. This happened to 3 friends this year.

 

Anyone else with the new TWC software having the receiver reboot more often after it self-installed? Seems to happen a lot more frequently than the old software. I know it happens at least twice a week for me.

 

Yep. The DVR reboots without warning much more often than it used to.

 

Hell yeah, this shit sucks. The dvr jumps alot now too, thats when it reboots for me mostly, messing around with the DVR controls. Mystro my ass, that fucker takes 5-10 minutes to reboot. Its like going back in time with this POS.

 

Not gonna defend the shit that happens with the new software, but they are about to release a patch. The software update was done to handle switch digital, so soon people in NC should have new features like startover. Startover allows someone to start over any show so long as there is still at least a second left.

 

No shit? You can catch the end of a show while it's on and in essence make it an 'On Demand' show?

How does that work?

 

My buddy figured out how to fast foward 15 minutes into a program with the new software. Just hold the ff button and it will jump 15 minutes. My quality of life has improved greatly already.

 

it hasn't been rolled out, but since it will be a dedicated signal instead of every channel all at the same time, it will be able to rewind that specific program.
