enter 1500, not from the guide, but directly from the remote.

As much as I hate the new Navigator software, TWC is getting closer to SDV.

I would switch to fios yesterday, I can't wait till that arrives.

As far as the satellite/dsl combo, that's all well and good if you have a home phone. My only phone is a cell phone and I doubt I'll ever have a home line again unless I set up a home alarm.

I'm glad to hear about all the new stuff coming down for TWC, hopefully they don't compress the new channels too badly. If they don't keep their PQ advantage, there will be absolutely no reason not to switch to satellite.

One thing I noticed about the dvr is it now tells you what percentage is filled, which is a nice touch. However, unless you can tell exactly how much SD vs HD footage you can record, it's fairly useless.

I can't understand why anyone would choose to have cable in 2008.

Because the SD channels on Direct TV aren't even full SD resolution. Don't even get me started on the HD channels.

But yeah, if you don't mind slightly worse PQ, there is absolutely no reason outside of apts to have satellite.

    Does DTV have On Demand?

That is one feature I LOVE about TWC (a big reason I switched from Comporium to TWC). You get all sorts of movies (current, oldies, and some not so oldies...some you pay for some you don't) , television shows, documentaries, local things, pretty much whatever you want. I especially like some of the digital channel options such as BBC America and Food Network, as well as the childrens shows on demand since I have a two year old.

Other than that, there are very few channel options that seem to be available on DTV that are not on cable, the NFL Network (which is probably the biggest thing I hate missing) and maybe a few more HD channels (but that seems to be changing) being exceptions. So I guess I just don't see the big deal about Satellite.
