You're going to have to post a different article, because nobody in the article that started this thread is being denied their right to exercise their religion. They're merely being denied the ability to discriminate.

They are most definitely being denied the ability to freely practice their religion by being forced to do things that they feel are against what they believe. It's no different than saying that a Jew must eat a pork chop because that's what the rest of the kids are eating.

No, the doctor is most definitely not. There's no religious belief anywhere that includes "thou shall not fertilize the woman if she's a lesbian".

The doc is no different that a landlord who simply doesn't want to rent to the gay folks.

It is absolutely different because a Jew eating a porkchop is not a state function.

I'm assuming you would champion the right of the Christian girl who wants to testify to her faith during a public school (read: state) function.

It is if that's what they're serving in the school cafeteria.

If that landlord found them another apartment that was pretty much the same, I'd have no problem with that either.

Again, people are guaranteed the right to freely practice their religion.

Well, you may not have a problem with that, but the landlord would lose in court.

And again, no one is stopping the doc from freely practicing her religion, they are just telling her she can't put a "no lesbos allowed" sign up in front of her shop. See BUCKO above.

Personally? I don't care. But If I were a lawmaker (or playing one on TV), I would say her testimonial could not be promoted by the public institution though it should also do noting to hinder her free expression....

    *edit*
...as long as it did not interfere with the organization's mandate to provide the state function.

The schools I went to usually had more than one choice. It is not only Jews that don't eat pork. I usually don't, but it has noting to do with religion or even morality.
