Deputy sheriffs have come to my house twice checking on me. They said that 911 calls had been made from my number. Checking my cell, I have no landline, no such calls were made from my phone, yet the 911 people definitely traced the calls to my phone. My wireless provider is clueless, a rep went so far as to say it couldn't happen.
Any ideas on how this can happen? [Needless to say this could develop into a real problem during an emergency.]

No. It wouldn't make a difference for a 911 call, would it, since no two phones have the same number?

Phone companies recycle numbers all the time. I could happen I guess.

    Are you shitting me?!

If so, I didn't know that, I mean, it seems like a great deal of time would have go by before an intact number could be recycled. My number has been attached to the same phone/immediate family for 20+ years, never has been dropped. I doubt that I have a recycled number either.

Fwit point: The deputies came to my house/location by tracing the 911 calls, yet the calls weren't made from my location.

Whoa, I've got to stop and take a deep breath. It gets me upset. I changed the name of my street to avoid the duplicate street names dilemma, and so that delivery and EMS people could easily find my house. Now, this...isn't helping my credibility if I should ever really need to call 911.:reb:
