Josh Hamilton to the Rescue

In an era where drugs and Bobby Bonds, Rafeal Palmero and the like, have tainted the honesty of baseball and the good name of baseball players, I take my hat off to Josh Hamilton.

Here is a very, very talented player who ADMITTED to his mistakes and has come back to the game with more ability than the aforementioned pair.

When I first heard about Hamilton in 2004, I heard stories about him that blew my mind. Like comparing him to Mickey Mantle when Josh was in high school. Or the time he was walked with the bases loaded to walk in the tying run.

Now, having seen him play for the last two years on MLB Extra Innings, I can see how great he really is without preformance enhancing drugs.

Watch this young man, who admitted to his problems and short comings go on to be one of the greastest players to ever play the game.

 

Assuming he isn't using PEDs is naive and setting yourself up for disappointment. We simply don't know. It's also ridiculously early to say he'll be one of the greatest to ever play the game. Sounds like you've been doing some drugs yourself.

 

He was very fucked up on drugs over the past 5-8 years. If I remember right herion was his drug of choice. The Rays got tired of his shit and cut him lose. Reds picked him up and he seemed to get his shit back together until injuries got him. I drafted him on several fantasy teams this year and have been rewarded with triple crown numbers...... so far

 

Thats spreading the cheese on pretty thick.

Seems that I'm on the wrong board. I thought this was for people who know something about baseball and a little bit about life.

Except for PantherPaul, you folks wouldn't know a ballplayer if you tripped over one.

 

Dude, he's a great story and I certainly hope he can keep his life straightened out, but to say he could be one of the best ever is quite a stretch.

Connie you seem fairly thin-skinned when it comes to someone disagreeing with your assumptions. Maybe this is the wrong board for you. Just head on over to the Josh Hamilton is Great site and you might be happier.

 

Judging by your history, I think you're stupid enough to mean this, but I'm still going to hope that you were being sarcastic. In case you weren't, no, saying that someone will become an all-time great is a huge stretch while saying that someone won't be is simple probability. Any player has a very small chance of being an all-time great, and the odds are hugely against Hamilton despite his considerable talent. I'm glad that he's had such a nice start, but there's no justification for Connie's hyperbole.
