So, something is munching down on the leaves of my peppers. I tried some homemade garlic spray that doesn't seem to be working at all. I think it just seasons the leaves and makes them tastier. I can't for the life of me find what's eating it which is frustrating because every time I look another big ass leaf is gone.

Any ideas what it could be or how to repell/kill it?

Sounds like a worm/caterpillar that blends in with the leaves, making it difficult to see. Sevens powder might work.

Yeah that's what I'm assuming but I've looked and looked and looked. The rate at which it eats I don't see how I could miss it.

Also I can't find any of the worm shit that is supposed to be really noticable if it is a hornworm.

I had a couple on the tomatoes last year. I looked and looked, thought I was going nuts, before I finally found the fucker. There wasn't any worm shit.

Is the leaf completely gone... does the stem look like it's been cut?

Sometimes completely gone, some nibbled all the way to the stem. Fucker at my first jalapeno. I hope he gets the hot shits.

I beleive I've found mouse droppings. Almost certain of it. A mouse would scurry as soon as I get near while a hornworm not so much. Of course they could be working together.

    is it a groundhog?
Last weekend, we put up a rabbit fence around the garden. Planted some tomatos and other stuff, went out to eat, came back home and saw two ground hog and two rabbits scurrying away. They hadn't gotten anything yet, but i know ground hogs can climb fences so we got some moth balls and put all around it and so far this has worked.
We haven't tried this yet, but someone told my brother to pee in some mason jars and put them around the garden. idk

Cut worms maybe. I think they dig back down in the soil. I imagine with yours being in pots (right?) that you could see these though. And can a mouse climb a stem like that?

    Hmmm..... mystery science gardeneing.

Get the frozen, raw lima beans. Put some bacon or fatback in them, let them simmer for about 1.5 hours. Dice a tomato, half a cuke, and throw in a pinch of chow chow, goddamn, you got some good eats.

I would venture to say slugs. They hide during the day and eat almost anything. Put a couple shallow dishes out with a little beer in them. In the morning, you have drowned slugs. If not, it's worms and caterpillars if critters are out of the game.
