I got ice on my lines. I've learned this is from a freon leak, likely in the coil.

My coil is fuckin' old. Like prolly 20+ years old. It has no real access panel, it's a bunch of sheet metal - I can't even tell how to get to it without literally undoing the sheet metal. My hope is that I can find where the coil is leaking freon, but I can't even get into the fucker.

Anybody know a good ole boy with a truck so I can pay half of what the MOrris Jenkins of the world charge?

you're fucked. freon has been banned and you're going to have to convert to the new stuff (unless you're lucky enough to find someone with a freon machine in a warehouse somewhere)...which means 100% replacement of everything. wait until you hear about the new return line(s) they want to run...on the outside of your house. GFL.

    IN charlotte...

But I think I got her going. The filter was clogged up, and after the unit was off for a full day, and all ice melted and dried, It's been blowing cold for about 4 hours and no ice....

    Fingers crossed.

    And it's not freon, it's R22 and it's not banned....yet.

yeah - should anyone need HVAC service in the future, I'll advise against Morris Jenkins. They quoted for a relative - a replacement price (exact same everything) THOUSANDS more than another company. Not hundreds, thousands more...

guess all those radio and TV commercials and dancing jigs drive the price up.

    Tyson Services

Just had Tyson Services in Charlotte install new system and we were very pleased.

Price was very competitive and they showed up on time and were done ahead of schedule. Employees were very professional and took a lot of time with me and the wife explaining and answering questions.

This is a fairly new company willing to go the extra mile to earn business.
