Hell I don't know. It just seems like they play somebody every year. And you don't really know whether ACC schools are turning them down anyway.

 

Sorry to point that out but no one in NC will accept a game with us. And yes, Wake's coach stated that he will not schedule us anymore in the Winston-Salem newpaper (I can find it for you if you need to see it). It was also reported that UNC will not schedule us and opted for McNeese State this year (again, I can find the article for you if you would like).

One reason is having to do with recruiting; Mr. Davis says he wants to expand his recruiting base to LA; my guess is that if ASU did beat UNC or kept it too close for comfort, he would play hell with recruiting in NC. But how is scheduling McNeese expanding his network into LA? Yes, they are located there, but as suggested by Freakie, those high-paid talent recruiters don't want to have anything to do with FCS caliber athletes.

Us App fans are very proud of our team, it always been that way, but now it's coming to light more since our recent success has driven the media to pay attention to us. Our coach has repeatedly stated that we will play any BCS team, anytime......see LSU this year.

 

in the 2007 college football season FBS and FCS teams played eachother 48 times. The FBS had a record of 42-6 against FCS teams. Not only that, but the average margin of victory was 31 points. THERE IS A TALENT GAP.

 

So the difference of about 30 scholarships has nothing to do with that, right? App used only 35 or so players as opposed to Michigan's 55 when that great game was played. Sure, wins and losses should play a majority role in your rationale, but you need to look more in depth at the numbers instead of looking at only wins and losses. Depth is a much bigger factor when comparing FCS to FBS.

 

This argument is stupid. App players are some of the best in their league. Quit trying to compare them to the major schools. You KNOW those guys would have taken a scholarship to a Div1 school if it was offered. YES there are exceptions...but come on.

Beating one Div 1A team in does not make ASU Southern Cal. Stop making all ASU alumni look stupid.

I have never said that ASU is on the level of Southern Cal....As you can see this discussion has taken a course towards the talent that FBS has over the FCS. Yes, I realize that there is a talent gap between the two divisions from the top echelon FBS teams to the top FCS teams. However I am disputing the gap between top FCS teams and middle and lower end of the FBS. And I am pointing out that there is a significant depth issue as well.

I don't expect ASU to beat LSU, but I do expect them to give them a game. These guys are champions (albeit in FCS) and they know how to win or be in every game. At the present moment, if App had to play mid major conference FBS teams over the course of the season, then ASU would not fare so well, BUT that is mainly due to the scholarship spread. If it was on a level playing field, they may have a good shot at being good in any league (besides the BCS conferences). That's why you play the games and sometimes end up with shockers.

As far as your comment, you need to watch your f'ing mouth telling me that I am making all ASU alumni look stupid. I will gladly debate any poster on here regarding anything with a good argument if I see fit, but DO NOT personally attack me or any posters for that matter. You're an idiot. App State would be at the BOTTOM of the Sun Belt or Conference USA even with more depth. The players at App were not talented enough to get scholarship offers to D1 programs. They are a KICK ASS IAA team...no doubt.

The very best AAA baseball team could not hang with the worst Major League team. Same here.
