Ryan is the only franchise qb in this draft. Ravens are trying to trade up so they can get him. Falcons appear to have Ryan at the top of their board.

    Ryan isn't a franchise QB.

    Why?

I dont say this to be a prick, but when you rallied around David Carr to death, give me a reason why I should believe Ryan isnt a franchise QB. Because with him going to the Falcons, Id like to believe you.

Give the David Carr thing a rest. Everything I said about him was correct. I never claimed that he was great or would be great, and in fact, I detailed all of his flaws when we first signed him as a free agent. What I said when defending Carr was that we had a shit-ton of problems on offense, and that morons who don't know any better want to pretend that it was all Carr, and that everything would be magically fixed once we got rid of him.

As for why you should believe me, how about the fact that I haven't been wrong about a QB prospect in six years of covering the draft for our magazine? With Ryan specifically, there just isn't anything special about him. He has a good frame and solid mechanics with no particular flaws, but his arm isn't exceptional, his accuracy is just average, and he didn't stand out when it came to reading defenses. He's a pretty solid guy who will play a lot of years in the NFL but never a superstar. People want to excuse his lack of stellar play at BC because of the supporting cast, but you can still see if a guy has superstar potential even if his receivers drop a great pass or his lineman break down in protection. I didn't see any of that.

I don't particularly like comparisons, but no one immediately comes to mind anyway.

Even if Ryan is better than I expect, you're still talking about a quarterback, so it'll be years before he's ready to perform at a high level regardless of how good he ends up being later in his career. And that's while carrying a huge contract. Someone like Dorsey would be able to come in and give us enormous problems immediately.

I agree with that, for the most part.

Before, I wanted them to grab Ryan so we wouldn't have to deal with Dorsey right off. Of course, now that they grabbed him, I figure a great QB could be devastating to us for years to come. We can handle a dominant DT easier than a master signal caller out there who rallies his offense while throwing accurate darts for TDs.

Call it nerves. Cant win with me. I hate it when they get anyone. And they have 200 picks today, so its going to be painful.

Btw....good to have you back for a while, **********. Try staying around for a bit, or at least while the season is in progress, regardless of how sick the Collin worship makes me.
