I don't know, I am not in their shoes. So many of these kids come from bad situations so its hard to know.

Why not? You wouldn't go for the millions while all the time knowing you could always come back and finish your degree at another time? It seems like a no brainer to me and even more so now that they can "test" the draft waters by not hiring an agent.

Kids who need the money, I would say yes, but if a kid doesn't need the money?

I guess so if a kid doesn't need the money as long as he can get an insurance policy if case something bad happens.

They all get insurance policies by the NCAA, but can only cash them if they have an injury that prevents them from ever playing again.

Don't some of the "really good ones" get extra insurance. I'm thinking the NCAA insurance is like work life insurance in that it's just a little bit and if you really want to be protected you get your own outside policy.

I really don't know the specifics.

Edit: Here's a link - not sure this is the whole story on insurance or not, but this is what I found with a quick search: (apparently, not all kids get the insurance, just those that apply and then pay the premiums.)

Yeah, Willis McGehee got a huge insurance policy before the NC game where he bent his knee backwards.
