    Those music channels with commercials are programmed by Clear Channel. It goes back to the beginning when CC made an investment in XM. XM fought CC to keep commercials off those channels. CC sued and won. XM decided to place a 'cm' on the display of those channels and they decided to program their own channels that are close to those programmed by Clear Channel.

    Clear Channel's deal with XM ends soon. No doubt XM will eliminate those channels as soon as they can...

    I don't know really. When the XM portable came out a couple years ago I bought it and signed up for XM. I already had Sirius in the car but i wanted a portable unit to run with and take to the gym. Turns out the XM portable sucked and they still can't get it to work. Now i have XM in the house and Sirius in the car....plus you get the XM music channels with Directv so I guess I have satelite radio X 3.

    I never listen to XM anymore because Sirius is just better. Plus you get Stern which is entertaining in small doses now that they are uncensored. They had Counting Crows in studio today performing 4 lives songs. It was pretty cool.

    Guess it's nice to have options. Haven't been a huge Stern fan for a long time, so his show being on Sirius wasn't that big a draw for me to sign up. The mobility of those things do make it more attractive, but my iPod gives me the music I want when I want it so, I doubt I'll be a subscriber anytime soon.

    I wonder what the XM-Sirius merger means in terms of programming. Might be best of both worlds if they simply mixed all of them together without eliminating anything (and admittedly, I don't know enough about it to offer an experienced opinion on this).

    nope. I wont until they quit charging $200 for the hd dvr box.

    I haven't listened to Sirius before but I'm hearing the music is much better. I could really care less about Stern. A little of him goes a long way. If I didn't live in the Charlotte area and wanted to follow the Panthers then I could understand the attraction of the NFL package. Personally I listen to ESPN/Fox Sports about 75% of the time. It would be nice to be able to pay for what you listen to. Give me those two and about 5 music channels and I'd be fine

    hockey......fucking lame

    FNZ doesn't talk about hockey b/c no one cares about hockey...

    if the Canes make the finals....i will pay attention, until that...it's gone the way of heavyweight boxing: irrelevant....
