If I do buy that Canon lens for $700, can one of you vouch for me and tell my wife to be that I bought it used from you for $200?

but you're most definitely top shel...uhh, high end user, though. Me, for instance, I'll never be able to justify this type purchase unless I just happen to have $700 extra disposable income, and I don't think I want this that bad.

Maybe one really good lens, and a few crappier ones. Meanwhile, should I ever actually get a good body to put some lenses on, I'll start begging for your leftovers too :dunce:

Not I. you've already blamed the body on me....

You could also look at a Wide Angle Prime. I'm not as familiar with the prime lineup, but I'm sure Larry can make a recommendation. You'll lose some versitility, but you'll likely gain some IQ and save some $.

Quality is more in the lenses than the body... I guess it depends on how "into it" you get. Perhaps Mark, Larry and Myself are more hardcore camera whores than Chris wants to be. BUT, I will be a steadfast and loyal alibi should my services be needed:xyxthumbs:

Pic # 1 isnt really that wide, the photographer is just a long way away from the subject.

For pic #2, you need a Ultra Wide Angle like we've been suggesting.

Wide Angles are cool to show perspective, you really don't use them for traditional landscapes... They're great for when you want to include foreground elements as well. They're also good for crazy distortions like picture 2.

Here's a couple other wide angle shots (not saying they're good - just examples of what a UWA can do)

well, what I was saying is that I don't have a good body to put anything on right now anyway.

But when I do, then I'll be looking for sloppy seconds.

I'd love to get a telephoto, though. I think I could spend on that.
