Roy is Nostradamus now?? So, Roy knew that Doh would screw up, still recruit some decent players, and that he would be offered the job a second time?

    You're really stretching here...

He may not have known Doh would be fired, but in the first go round I am sure he looked at who was on the Team and who Gut had been recruiting and thought the better of it.

He knew Doh was a good recruiter.....and considering the 8-20 season most kids would jump at the chance to be offered a Scholly to UNC knowing that they would prob start as freshmen.

If you don't think that Dean had a plan to transition to Gut and then on to Roy, then you really don't know much about Dean Smith. Roy just fucked up that plan and then Baddour panicked and made a despration hire - against Dean's wishes, btw.

yup I think it was Rick Majerus that Dean thought would be the next best candidate. I may be wrong about that though.

He would have had a good team. When he flew back to KS that night, he had agreed to take the UNC job, but changed his mind when he saw the reception he got in Lawrence. It killed him to go against Dean, but he thought that he was going to stay at Kansas for the rest of his career. When he got the second call the combination of the situation at UNC and the situation at Kansas were changed enough that he went back to CH.

It was still a tough call for him though, but don't underestimate the guilt at the UNC situation - and Matt's too - being partially his fault played in the decision.
