well, he's obviously not devoting all the time he used to to basketball. take it as you want.

i'm not trying to make excuses. if he chooses to do that and it hurts the team, you have to take it.

not like unc didn't run off a coach they didn't think was doing well. and i know you guys were armchair coaching while it was going on.

coach k has all the resources he needs to develop a good team, but he hasn't in about 3 years. no excuses, the truth.

it's not because someone was hurt, or someone transferred or someone went to the nba.

if he wants to be a part time college coach, then he's going to have a part time good program. unfortunately they're good at the beginning of the year.

Well if he is at that point with dook, then they need to kick his ass to the curb.

Again, if it's the reason(or excuse) the program has slipped or one of them I should say, then it needs to be addressed. And although dook had a good record this year, they weren't as good as that record, that's obvious. IMO the head coaching job is a full time job, no matter what. I think thats one of the things that hurt Gut for the short term he took over at UNC.

I think whether people want to admit it or not, but K (dook) has started slipping since Williams came into the league as well. But I am sure a lot of schools would kill for the success that dook has had even the past couple of years.

funny thing is, roy is gonna end up with more championships with dean. i have no beef with williams. i honestly think at the level of duke and carolina that coaches don't coach as much anymore. watching davidson play vs watching duke or carowhina play, it's night and day. davidson doesn't have the horses that those two have so watch some of their sets they run. duke jacks up three's and carolina just runs and throws the ball to hansbrough.

im not really a fan of roy williams' coaching style as much as i was of dean smith's. too much street ball for me, but i cant argue his success. so i cuss him when they lose and credit the talent on the floor when they win. im old school like that.

as for K, i got noithing but respect for what he's done. he's earned everything on his own merit and deserves his place with the elite. i'd be willing to bet that this shit wont last for long under his watch.

as for Davidson, i love what they're doing. i love their style. i love the story. but when it comes right down to it, Curry is their team. just as Hansbrough is to UNC. cameo appearances from the supporting casts may be required from time to time but the team usually revolves around the star.

that was a nice refreshing post.

X's and O's, K would run laps around Roy.....Roy though gets the personnel that he needs to run the Offense he wants....and running is what he does....it covers up the lack of having a half court game.....I aint saying Roy cant come up with a plan, its just that its not something he is known for.

Pretty sure Brand was national player of the year and number one pick in the draft. He was a badass. That 99 game still hurts, but I take solace in the fact that the guys who stuck around (Battier and Nate James) ended up winning the title. Anyone listening to Gottlieb is an idiot. This is the same Gottlieb who said West Virginia didn't belong in the tournament when they were 23-8 during the Big East tournament. What is wrong is the point guard play of Paulus. You look at his offensive numbers and they aren't bad at all but I don't think he makes his players around him better. You know that expectations are high when a team of all underclassman (except for Paulus and Nelson. McClure doesn't count he sucks) go 28-6 and 13-3 in the ACC without a freakin center and people talk about Duke being overrated and sucky. And Duke was never #1 in the country. They got as high as #2 but it's not like they didn't deserve the ranking at the time. They were like 22-1. I think 28-6 for that team is a pretty damn good job. They weren't a title team. If they had a center they would've been a Final Four calibur team for sure. Last year, Duke only scored over 80 points one time and that was the very first game of the year against Columbia. They were a lot better than they were last year and I think they will be even better next year with more experience but you can only be so good without a center. Plus, Cowherd is a douche. He will say he hates a team one week and then loves them the next. He's really bad about it in football. It's weird he's from Las Vegas but would get on his knees for Jim Tressell in a blink of an eye. Does he have some Ohio connection or grew up there or something?
